Activity 3.2 Develop and implement PAME assessment tool 1 = just started, limited progress PAME assessment tool at an advanced stage; needs to be reviewed by experts to ensure no gaps exist.
Activity 3.3 Train government staff and managers 1 = just started, limited progress This is planned for early December once all tools are finalized.

Obstacles faced in implementing Activity 3: There have been some logistical difficulties as most of the experts working with us on developing the indicators and tool reside outside of The Bahamas and have fairly busy work schedules outside the time they are volunteering for this effort.
Lessons learned in implementing Activity 3: Coordination and complementarity of projects is important. Through work done under a Project Preparation Grant (PPG) for marine protected areas, the stakeholders in this project have had additional exposure to using PAME assessment tools and increased knowledge of the options that exist. The tool produced through the PPG will be reviewed by the working group to determine whether it can fit what is desired for the national PA system.
