OUTCOME 1: Economic valuation of PA resources

Activity 1.1 Identify stakeholders to be involved 3 = significant progress, nearly complete Stakeholders identified and contacted, one meeting held, other stakeholder meetings are being organised .    
Activity 1.2 Determine ecosystems, services and valuation methods 3 = significant progress, nearly complete TOR was developed for the Environmental Audit. Ecosystems service are being identified. Model has been developed, methodology is Choice modelling. Inclusive of background literature    
Activity 1.3 Collect data related to use and non-use values 1 = just started, limited progress Data to be collected has been identified. Will be done as part of the environmental audit    
Activity 1.4 Analyze survey data to determine value of ecosystem goods and services 0 = not yet begun, no progress Ecosystem services and goods are identified but the values will not be determined until the survey data is analysed. Some ecosystem services will be seen as part of the embedded effect, hence the valuation exercise will be dependent on the regression analysis.    
Activity 1.5 Compare results to conservation scenario with ecosystem loss 1 = just started, limited progress This forms part of the TOR for the Environmental Audit, hence should be underway shortly    
Activity 1.6 Disseminate results to decision makers, including policy briefs 1 = just started, limited progress Key decision makers have been identified.    
       
Obstacles faced in implementing Activity 1: Length of time taken between the host enitity NEPA and the Consultant, University of the West Indies - Institue of Sustainable Development to come to a suitable contractual agreement.

Activity 2.1 Conduct training courses for 5 government and 5 PA managers in economic tools 1 = just started, limited progress Activities to begin early this quarter (2010)    
Activity 2.2 Hold planning sessions for PA managers to incorporate into planning for 2010/2011 0 = not yet begun, no progress      
Activity 2.3 Assess skills to confirm training was successful 0 = not yet begun, no progress      
       
Obstacles faced in implementing Activity 2: Same as in Activity one, as the contractor will play an integral role in the completeion of this activity.
