Obstacles faced in implementing Activity 2: General consensus on a coordinated schedule between State partners and Resource teams to conduct 3rd iteration (targeted for Feb. 2010); possibly not having MARXAN Analysis completed; recognizing existing data gaps (e.g. geodata on outlying islands) and technology limitations (e.g.current software and/or sufficient hardware); Implementing the FSM Atolls Food Security Vulnerability and Adaptive Assessment has been re-scheduled (mid-Mar. 2010) due core funding draw down being delayed and inaccessibility of targeted outlying islands during winter months also the time of typhoon/hurricane season
Lessons learned in implementing Activity 2: Build on existing assessments and incorporate new assessment to add-value to outcome(s); Consistent communication and follow-up on agreed action items to meet outcome targets; Contingency plans if action items are not implemented/completed; Where there are data gaps, identify a way forward with partners and circulate to network(s) for assistance; Opportunities of leveraging funds through small grant schemes (e.g. Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency Matching Grant)
